Long, short, straight or wavy – your hair and how you wear it is a big part of your personality. That’s why female hair loss is such a distressing condition. You can lose confidence in your looks and even feel too embarrassed to enjoy activities like going swimming or to the gym.

Female hair loss can also be a permanent condition, and it may even get worse. Typically, you’ll experience hair loss or thinning hair over the top of your head. In these cases, hair transplant surgery to restore the hair may be the only solution.

Hair transplants for women are becoming increasingly popular as they deliver natural-looking, undetectable and permanent results. To find out more, book an consultation and come and talk to one of our Patient Care Co-ordinators. We’ll talk you through the process and then we’ll invite you to a free consultation with one of our hair transplant surgeons. This is where we will advise the best hair transplant option for you and the results you can realistically expect.

Whilst this procedure is carried out under local anesthetic, any surgical procedure carries the rare risk of complications. We’ll explain these to you before you book your hair transplant surgery, and you’ll find full details in our hair restoration patient guide.

The growth rate of the hair transplanted is very gradual and can take up to four months before the hair will begin to come through.

  • Androgenetic alopecia – also called female-pattern baldness and usually hereditary.
  • Stress.

This procedure is less invasive, leaves no scarring and can typically be completed in a morning or afternoon – known as a ‘megasession’. Your surgeon will pluck out small groupings of healthy hair (follicular units) from your head and then transplant these into the area of hair loss. The transplanted hair will then begin to grow as normal after a few months. The more follicular units transplanted, the better the result.

Each individual hair follicle is dissected under magnification. Fine incisions are made and planted in the area of loss. With micro-grafting your surgeon can transplant more hair within the procedure time, giving effective results faster.
